Family Law Agreements

We understand that many families in business are concerned that the assets which they have accumulated - either through the business or personally - may be subject to claims under the Family Law Act if family members separate from their partners.

We advocate that families in business consider asking family members to enter into what are commonly called pre-nuptial agreements, usually incorporated within the provisions of a binding financial agreement under the Family Law Act, to protect the assets of the whole family in the event that a separation occurs to a family member.

Understandably some families are concerned about discussing these agreements with partners or potential partners. We have experience in facilitating these discussions and act with appropriate sensitivity to assist in the implementation of the wishes of the family.
